IFAC Connect objective is to foster dialogue on region-specific challenges, digital transformation, and sustainable economic growth. Designed to unite standard-setters, regulators, and business leaders, the series acts as a bridge to translate global standards into localized practices

The series achieves this through regional dialogues that are adapted to local contexts while adhering to global standards, and Kenya is the first African nation to host this event.

The major African dialogue was successfully launched in Nairobi, Kenya, in August 19-20, 2025, in partnership with the Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) to drive transformative agendas on the continent.

ICPAK Chairman CPA Prof Elizabeth Kalunda Muvui, alongside global and continental accountancy bodies IFAC and PAFA led by IFAC CEO Mr. Lee White, Prem Govender, PAFA Vice President, Alta Prinsloo PAFA CEO, paid a high-level courtesy call to the CS National Treasury who was represented by Dr. Bonface B. Makokha, the Principal Secretary for Economic Planning at the National Treasury.

The strategic engagement focused on aligning the accountancy profession’s role with national economic planning priorities—underscoring the value of transparency, sustainability, and sound financial management.

The meeting set the stage for the IFAC Connect Africa 2025, where Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury Hon. FCPA Mbadi was expected to officiate as Chief Guest. The conference convened Africa’s top finance and policy minds to accelerate economic transformation through strong public finance and professional ethics.

The Chairman was accompanied to the meeting by ICPAK vice chairman FCPA Benard Amukah, Council members, FCPA Prof. Nicholas Letting, CPA Jona Wala, CPA, Wycliff Bichang’a, CPA Matthew Mukisu, CPA Chrispus Mbogo and ICPAK CEO CPA Dr Grace Kamau.
